This is a must read book for sure. It tells the story of a young boy named Miles who heads out from his Florida home where he lived with his parents to Culver Creek Preparatory School in Alabama. Almost right away he gets caught up in his roommates "squabbles" and finds himself in an ensuing prank war against the "weekday warriors". He is soon nicknamed "pudge" which is quite ironic due to the fact he's quite thin. You will find whilst reading this book you will get quite caught up in the teenage year antics of Pudge, Chip "the Colonel", and Alaska Young, who will go from smoking on school property, to drinking milk mixed with alcohol, and many more stuff you'll find yourself smiling (or tearing up a bit) to. Yet, at the same this book is filled with very thoughtful ideas such as Alaska saying, "Y'all smoke to enjoy it. I smoke to die" which actually makes you think. This is definitely a book you need to be open-minded for because there's a lot of questions or ideas that are deep and very indepth included such as Pudge speaking about Alaska, "“I wanted so badly to lie down next to her on the couch, to wrap my arms around her and sleep. Not fuck, like in those movies. Not even have sex. Just sleep together in the most innocent sense of the phrase. But I lacked the courage and she had a boyfriend and I was gawky and she was gorgeous and I was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was hurricane.”
